Who is a Candidate?
If you have areas of excess fat under the skin, which is resistant to diet and exercise.
You should be in good medical health and your goals should be to enhance the contour and figure in the affected areas of your body.
If you wish to change the contours of your body, commonly involved areas are the upper arm, bra-lines, abdomen, love handles, thighs, and under the chin.
Most patients are near normal weight and desire contour changes and improvement in their figure. This is not a weight loss procedure.
Intended Results
An improvement in the contour, shape and proportion of the treated areas.
A more flattering figure or physique, in or out of clothing. Improved body symmetry and proportion.
Procedure Description
Smartlipo™ procedures are performed on small zones and on an outpatient basis.
Oral sedation anesthesia is usually used for safety and comfort.
Sterile fluid (normal saline) is injected into the areas of excess fat, in a tumescent fashion to swell or enlarge the fat cells so that more of their surface areas is exposed to the Smartlipo™ laser.
The fat is then liquefied by a small laser probe (Smartlipo™)
A small probe is then inserted into the fat through very short incisions, placed in inconspicuous locations near the fat deposits, and the liquefied fat is removed via aspirator.
Recuperation and Healing
The patient may go home after the procedure with a compression garment covering the treated areas. No driving after procedure is allowed until the next day. Compression is advised for about 2 weeks as it helps reduce swelling and helps you achieve the final result more quickly.
Initial discomfort is easily controlled with oral medication.
Insurance Guidelines
Liposuction is considered cosmetic and, therefore, is not covered by insurance. The patient is responsible for payment by cash, check, credit card or financing, as outlined in our financial policies sheet that you will receive at the time of your consultation.
