Jacki Kment PA-C receives national honor!!

Jacki has just received an official certificate from the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA) being awarded the distinction of SDPA Diplomate. This award recognizes those who have completed the Distance Learning Initiative for Advanced Dermatology Training by the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and is recognized and approved by the American Academy of Physician Assistants. To date, there are only 51 individuals across the country who have received the award of SDPA Diplomate.

Jacklynn Kment of Sutton Ryan Dermatology selected as NPDA President

Jacklynn Kment, MPAS, PA-C of Sutton Ryan Dermatology was recently named as the founding President of the newly developed Nebraska Dermatology Physician Assistants. NPDA has now evolved into a fully incorporated state dermatology PA society, one of only seven such organizations. Jacki (along with fellow coworker and dermatology PA, Michelle Sitzman) felt it was important for Nebraska to establish an official state society which would ensure national support by the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.
The overall mission of NDPA is to encourage dermatology PA excellence by providing a framework for interacting with colleagues, advancing dermatology knowledge and skills, and enhancing patient care. In the specialty of dermatology, PAs treat visible diseases, often difficult to conceal, uncomfortable, and a source of vulnerability to the patient.
Congratulations to Jacklynn Kment for having the insight and developing Nebraska Dermatology Physician Assistants allowing for Nebraska's PAs to be recognized for excellence in such a specialized profession. Other Sutton Ryan Dermatology PAs who are involved with Nebraska Dermatology Physician Assistants are Michelle Sitzman, PA-C as Secretary/Treasurer and Rebecca Reinke, PA-C as Public Relations Chair.

Congrats to our PA-C, Jacki Kment!

Congratulations to Jacki Kment, MPAS, PA-C, for her recent selection as the newest board member of the Nebraska Dermatology Society (NDS). Jacki is the first physician extender in the state of Nebraska to be selected to a newly appointed physician extender board position within the NDS.

A simple contact to the NDS, discussing the impact of physician extenders and the influence they are having on the care of dermatology patients in Nebraska, opened the door for consideration of a newly appointed board position within the NDS. The current president, Dr. James Shehan, saw the need to consider adding a physician extender board position.

Sutton Ryan Aesthetic Center WELCOMES Physician Assistant, Leanne Carlson!

Sutton Ryan Aesthetic Center is pleased to announce the newest addition to our family; Leanne Carlson. Leanne comes from an aesthetic clinic in Omaha with 3 years of experience in aesthetic medicine including lasers, BOTOX® and fillers. She graduated with academic excellence from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in December 2006 with a master's degree in
physician assistant studies. She became NCCPA Board Certified in February 2007 and is a member of AAPA (American Academy of Physician Assistants) and NAPA (Nebraska Association of Physician Assistants).

She also received her BFA in musical theatre from Sam Houston State University and is still very active in the performing arts including theatre, film and vocal performance. She has a leading role in the upcoming production of "Annie" at the Rose Theatre in Omaha.

She is married to Mark Carlson, an OB-GYN in Omaha and they have 3 cats.

Sutton Ryan Dermatology

At Sutton Ryan Dermatology, Dr. Margaret Kontras Sutton and Dr. Robyn Ryan, board certified dermatologists; have committed to the general skin care needs of the community of our community for over 20 years. But as the interest in the more aesthetic aspects of dermatology have risen, Sutton Ryan Dermatology has responded by providing these services in a new state-of-the-art area in the facility -- the Sutton Ryan Aesthetic Center. The new center, combined with the longstanding general and surgical dermatology practice, creates a full-service dermatology clinic.

As health care professionals specially trained in diseases and structure of the skin, Drs. Sutton and Ryan feel it is their duty to offer only those procedures that have proven to be effective and safe. "We've been doing procedures like fillers and BOTOX for a number of years but they have been mixed in with the general dermatology clinic," Dr. Sutton said. "However we now felt that the aesthetic patients want to be in a different setting: the waiting room atmosphere has a different feeling, more bright, cheery and welcoming. It's still medical and professional but not quite as much of a doctor's office type feel." Drs. Sutton and Ryan can also notice and treat other problems noticed during these procedures such as skin cancer as they approach the issues from a medical perspective.

One of the procedures at Sutton Ryan Aesthetic Center with the highest patient satisfaction is the injection of BOTOX. Not only does BOTOX treat certain wrinkles with great results, it can also be used for facial contouring such as brow lifting or eliminating the downward turning of the corners of the mouth. There are many other successful procedures such as:

•Microdermabrasions and/or chemical peels done in series
•Injections of filling materials for wrinkles or to replace lost volume from aging
•Laser hair removal
•Laser skin tightening
•Laser destruction of excessive facial redness and/or vessels
•Sclerotherapy for spider veins of the legs
•Photofacials for aging and pigmentation problems of the skin

There are also a number of specially selected skin care products that they provide which enhance and preserve the effects of the aesthetic procedures. Jacki Kment, PA-C, received the Presidential Excellence Award that was given by the Board of Directors of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA) at the Fall Conference in Grapevine, Texas. Her hard work and dedication to the society is one of the reason she received this award. Congratulations Jacki for receiving this honor!

Introducing our new Physician Assistant, Kerri Otto, PA-C

We are excited to announce our newest Physician Assistant, Kerri Otto, join our Sutton Ryan family.

She comes to us with a with 9 years experience in general and cosmetic dermatology in Lincoln. She graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan in 1999 and went to the University of Nebraska Medical Center and obtained a Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree in December 2001. She became board certified in 2001.

Please help us welcome Kerri, we are excited to have her!
